Welcome - psychotherapy begins with where you are in your life, how you understand yourself and what your needs are. Therapy can support you to work through the life difficulties that are causing you pain and suffering. The outcome of therapy is usually greater self-knowledge, a re-integration of de-pressed thoughts, emotions, and beliefs, and a new relationship with your self, others, and the world. The privilege of a life time is to become who you truly are.

My approach to psychotherapy is guided by the work of C.G. Jung, and others, who have empirically proven that healing is never a temporary or “quick-fix.” Therapy, typically, is a dialogue between two people (or more in the case of a couple) that supports self-awareness and integration. Self-integration is what promotes lasting health and happiness.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. My training in developmental theories, analytical psychology and years of experience as a therapist, enable a confidential and healing environment. My approach captures your innate potentials of healing and self-regulating qualities.

Therapy is a process of self-exploration that may include structured “talk” therapy, creative work; Sandplay, which can be a silent process; exploration of dreams, religious experiences, and journaling your personal myth.

I work with adults and couples, that are experiencing life challenges depression, anxiety, grief, bi-polar disorders, life transitions, childhood sexual abuse, birth trauma, infertility, communication complications, relationship issues including separation and divorce.

Relationships are vital to being human. Marriage, and the union with another, can provide a rich understanding and deeper connection with oneself, another, and the world. Being in a relationship means to be individual (separate and whole) and together in a healthy lasting exchange of connection. Therapeutic work with couples heals core misunderstandings, disagreements, infidelities, and betrayals by raising intimacy through empathetic understanding and healthy (honest, and compassionate) communication.

Often the biggest challenge when together in a coupling can be the experience of the other. Being in a couple is challenging because we are facing, most frequently, someone who is our opposite in temperament, typology and psychology. So when we engage in relationship we are not only exploring the other person and all that s/he brings to us but we are also exploring the unseen parts of our self. And to couple means to see the parts of our self that we may not know. All couples project. Usually this is when the relationship begins to heat up, “issues” start to emerge, tension may creep in and the feelings for each other may shift.

Couples therapy begins with understanding each other. Usually one partner is more extroverted than the other. Right away this can trigger “differences” between each other. If one partner is more of a planner and the other partner is more in the “flow,” there may be a struggle about time or getting things done. Sometimes just understand the differences that live between each other in personality and psychology can bring relief. Of course learning healthy and compassionate communication to address these issues always raises intimacy.
